🎮 JDG Expands into KPL: Acquires Team VG and Enters the King Pro League
On June 3, 2024, JD Gaming officially announced its entry into the King Pro League (KPL), China’s top-tier professional tournament for the mobile MOBA game Honor of Kings. JDG completed the acquisition of the Xiamen-based team VG (Victory Gaming) and rebranded it as the Beijing JDG Honor of Kings Division.
To build a competitive roster, JDG signed former Hero JiuJing star player Wuwei and recruited an elite coaching staff led by three-time championship-winning coaches Lao Lin and Li Luo. The move signals JDG’s strategic expansion from PC to mobile esports, aligning with the growing popularity of mobile games in China and across Asia.
Industry analysts regard this acquisition as a strong statement of JDG’s ambition to dominate both PC and mobile esports in the coming years.
